On March 26, 2024, the Selby Foundation Network took a significant step in promoting gender equality and quality education by donating sanitary pads to Junior High School students at Adwumam R/C Basic School in the Bosomtwe District, Ashanti Region, Ghana.
The initiative, led by Bernice Selby, aimed to support young girls in managing menstrual hygiene with dignity, ensuring that their education is not disrupted due to the lack of essential menstrual products. Access to sanitary pads remains a challenge for many schoolgirls, often leading to absenteeism and affecting their academic performance.
By providing these essential supplies, the Selby Foundation Network reinforces its commitment to empowering young girls, promoting equal opportunities in education, and breaking menstrual stigma. This donation is part of the foundation’s broader OhemaaBa Pad Project, which seeks to create awareness and provide sustainable menstrual health support to girls in underserved communities.

The foundation encourages stakeholders, including individuals and organizations, to join the cause in ensuring that no girl misses school due to menstrual health challenges. Together, we can build a future where all students, regardless of gender, have equal access to education and opportunities.
