In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Selby Foundation Network, through the OhemaaBa Pad Project, carried out a sanitary pad donation and menstrual hygiene education session at Blessed Kings and Queens Academy, Kotobabi Spintex.
The initiative aimed to educate young girls within the menstruation age bracket on menstrual health, personal hygiene, and the proper use of sanitary pads while also addressing misconceptions surrounding menstruation.
The event brought together girls of menstrual age, teachers, and representatives from the Foundation for an engaging and impactful educational session. During the talk, participants received practical guidance on menstruation, menstrual hygiene, and how to correctly use sanitary pads. To make the session interactive and engaging, girls were encouraged to participate in discussions and answer questions, with candies given as rewards for correct responses.

Teachers of the school were also actively present during the session, supporting the educational discussions and encouraging the girls to freely ask questions.
A practical demonstration on the proper use of sanitary pads was conducted, followed by a return demonstration by some of the girls to ensure they had fully understood the process. This interactive approach helped build confidence and improve understanding among the participants.
The session also created an open platform for girls to ask questions and discuss concerns related to menstruation. Various misconceptions surrounding menstruation and menstrual hygiene were addressed, helping participants gain accurate knowledge and confidence in managing their menstrual health.
Additionally, the Selby Foundation Network introduced its mission and agenda to both the students and teachers, highlighting its commitment to empowering young girls, promoting menstrual dignity, and supporting vulnerable communities through education and donations.
As part of the outreach, sanitary pads were donated to the girls and female teachers to support menstrual hygiene management and reduce period poverty challenges.
The event concluded with group photographs and a brief social interaction session. The Foundation expressed its sincere appreciation to Blessed Kings and Queens Academy for the opportunity to engage with the students and contribute to their wellbeing.
At Selby Foundation Network, we remain committed to ensuring that no girl misses opportunities due to menstrual challenges. Through the OhemaaBa Pad Project, we continue to advocate for menstrual health awareness, dignity, and access to sanitary products for girls in underserved communities.
Together, we can make menstrual health education and dignity accessible to every girl.
